Christine de Pizan was born in Venice, Italy circa 1364 and became the first woman in Europe to make a living as an author by being the first to write the history of women. The National Women's History Museum is dedicated to continuing de Pizan's work of documenting women's history and we are proud to present the Honors
in her name on October 9, 2013.
NWHM will pay tribute posthumously to three women with an award in their name presented to a contemporary counterpart. The lives and contributions of the recipients of the de Pizan Honors
will have a permanent presence, exhibited within the future National Women's History Museum, at the National Mall in Washington, DC.
