National Foundation for Women Legislators, Inc.

nationa foundation for women legislators

The National Foundation for Women Legislators was created to help the National Order of Women Legislators fulfill its mission of encouraging greater participation of women in establishing public policy and encouraging the election and/or appointment of women in public office.  The Order was formed in 1938 to serve as a membership group of women state legislators, both current and former.

NFWL provides opportunities for women to prepare for running and winning elections to state legislatures; equips women for leadership by providing timely and extensive legislative information, which enables them to make informed decisions; provides high-level networking and policy briefing opportunities; prepares women legislators to move up the political ladder; and fosters relationships with congressional members as well as women leaders in other areas. NFWL continues to grow in numbers and influence as legislation and resolutions are developed through its various Policy Committees.
